Their extreme hardness means they are brittle, so a highly rigid setup, such as a CNC machine, is necessary to prevent the end mill from breaking. A 90° pointed tip allows them to be used for drilling as well as for slotting, profiling, and chamfering cuts. All are center cutting, allowing plunge cuts into a surface. End mills with two flutes provide better chip clearance for high-volume, high-speed plunge, slotting, and roughing cuts.
Use uncoated end mills for general purpose milling and short production runs. Use coated end mills for demanding, high-speed jobs in hard material as well as for longer production runs. They're more wear resistant than uncoated end mills. Before drilling, use the centreing drill to drill an initial hole of 1-2 times the diameter to ensure the accuracy of the drilling process with a common drill, and to reserve the chamfer for the tap, so that the tap can be used to perform the work. (This centering drill can only be used for spotting and chamfering, never drilling). The centering drill is suitable for high speed, long drilling, dry machining, etc. The top angle of the pointing drill should be equal to or greater than the top angle of the micro-drill in the final hole (if the top angle of the centreing drill is smaller, the two cutting edges will touching the workpiece before the tip when the micro-drill is subsequently cut in, which will easily cause chipping).Keep the tool clean, remove resin, wood chips and other dirt from the wood after use and use standard industrial solvents to clean the tool. Apply a small amount of machine oil to prevent the surface of the tool from rusting, clean all stains on the handle of the tool to prevent slippage during use.
Do not resharpen or change the shape of the tool without permission, as every sharpening process requires professional sharpening equipment and professional sharpening skills, otherwise the edge may easily break and cause an accident.
